HEC and Zong to provide Internet to 100 thousand students
Higher Education Commission and Zong signed an MoU for provision of internet devices to 100 thousand students who will be getting laptops in Phase II of 2015. These devices will be provided free of cost by HEC.
Zong is working in Pakistan for a couple of years and providing cellular and internet services and the company holds 4G license also. The Wireless Broadband Services for laptop holders will be based on 3G technology. Last year, Wireless Broadband Services were provided through PTCL Evo devices.
Similar to last year package, the students will be able to enjoy first 3 months free of cost and then they will have to pay normal charges for the package they choose.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s National Laptop Scheme is aimed to provide latest laptops along with internet services for the students of public sector universities and colleges and Zong CEO has acknowledged the efforts and vision of Prime Minister.
